Powder coating is a finishing process and is applied directly to the surface that has to be coated. The raw material is powder.

Types of powder
Thermoplastic powders
Thermoplastic powders do not chemically react when cured, but simply melt and flow over the surface of the part.They are used for applications that require a tough finish with impact resistance and/or chemical resistance.
Thermoset powders
They are reactive. That means, when they are cured, coating will not be remelt. Thermosetting powders are usually applied to parts using an electrostatic gun.
